Pitahaya (also known as “Dragon Fruit”) is a rose whose blooms resemble its namesake. The inner petals are pink, while the outer petals are pale greenish-white—just like the look of a real dragon fruit. This variety features thick, sturdy stems, beautiful flower form, and an extended blooming period. The flowers are long-lasting, making it an excellent cut flower—able to stay fresh in a vase for up to 15 days. It’s not only ideal for cutting but also a lovely choice for planting in gardens. However, in cooler temperatures or low-light conditions, buds may have difficulty opening.
As a cut rose, Pitahaya produces stems up to 70 cm long and is known for its excellent vase life and durability during transport. It’s also a highly productive variety, yielding about 120–170 stems per square meter annually. The flowers are large and tightly packed with layers of petals, giving a full, dense look. When freshly cut and placed in a basket, the bloom’s appearance closely mimics a real dragon fruit.
Despite its high productivity, the plant itself remains compact and manageable—perfect for growing in containers on a balcony or planting in clusters in garden beds for cut flower use.
